K&B Banknote Solutions challenged ArtCenter Berliners with designing a new banknote for a younger demographic, age of 15 — 25, to be highlighted at the global Equinox 24 Conference. With this event and demographic in mind, students developed a graphic – and sometimes interactive – concept design for banknotes that included critical state of the art security features tested out on a variety of substrates.
Students began their project being briefed at K&B headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, immersing themselves in new technologies and operations introduced by the K&B team. They returned to Berlin to develop their projects. K&B’s relative proximity to Berlin provided an opportunity for K&B consultants to directly engage with students through visiting lectures, presenting cutting edge security and new substrate developments.
