The objective for development of a smart city should ultimately be to improve quality of life for its Citizens by using urban informatics.* It helps us understand how a city should evolve to reduce its carbon footprint, creating efficiencies while allowing for proactive responses to challenges and opportunities for its inhabitants. It is also a place where Art, Science, and Tech come together. The UTR Model of a smart city development for Tegel Flughafen should bean example of this. Within the current 6 area focus of the UTR Water, Energy, Sustainability,Mobility, AI, and Materials, we have added a 7th area of focus, “Socialtecture”which allows for direct input from the people of Berlin with its myriad of ethnicities and cultures.
